Structural Engineer

IQIP, a global leader in the market for pile drivers and installation equipment, is looking for Structural Engineer. With 400 colleagues worldwide, we offer smart and sustainable solutions, working on projects at sea such as wind farms and drilling platforms, as well as on land, including bridges and ports. You will be part of the team that is responsible for our equipment’s hydraulic Structural Engineering.

As a Structural Engineer, you will be joining our Structural Engineering department where we are responsible for design, calculation and certification of one-off mission equipment, consultation with the customer, solving technical challenges and providing cost effective solutions. At every stage, we must take into account all relevant design standards, safety rules, and quality requirements.

We work on projects like wind turbine blade installation where we have to design an operation and equipment to install one of the longest blades ever (80+ meters) according to DNV standards. Or on a solution for FPUT to upend and lift one of the largest monopile of 100+ meters and 2500+ tons.

We expect an innovative contribution from our structural engineers with regard to the existing product package, and employ 3D Solid Edge, PDM Teamcenter, Mathcad and Femap for FEM analyses.

As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Translating customer requirements into a functional basic design
  • Assessment of the design to verify strength and rigidity by hand calculations and detailed FEM analysis
  • Advice the internally and externally on structural design improvements
  • Reporting on the strength and rigidity of the structure for third party certification
  • Making mechanical calculations for design and certification of the equipment and operations
  • Preparing specifications for enquiries to suppliers
  • Supporting the rest of the organization with technical questions about your designs


To be eligible for the position of Structural Engineer, you must have the following:

  • A higher academic education or university degree a higher educational institution, in marine/offshore/mechanical engineering
  • At least a couple of years of work experience as a Structural Engineer, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • You are an expert user of FEA software, preferably FEMAP, other software also welcome
  • The ability to conduct strength calculations by hand (experience with Mathcad is preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of rules and regulations within the codes and standards of DNV and Lloyd’s Register CLAME
  • You are analytical yet innovative in your way of thinking. You are keen on building good relationships with stakeholders, see solutions instead of bottlenecks and can work towards deadlines independently.
