IQIP’s Hydrohammers installing foundations for new bridge in Bangladesh

News published on 8 June 2022

Construction of the new Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib railway bridge in Bangladesh is underway and five IQIP Hydrohammers have been deployed for the installation of the steel piles. IQIP is supporting construction specialists, Antara Koh, with the pile driving for the installation, by providing two S-280 Hydrohammers and three S-350 Hydrohammers, which are currently being used on site. The innovative design of the Hydraulic hammer makes it capable of delivering efficient pile driving for the construction of solid foundations that can withstand significant loads, regardless of the kind of soil and environment at the project site.

The current phase of construction, Package-WD 2, which covers the western part of civil works, is being developed as a joint venture between IHI Infrastructure Systems and Sumitomo Mitsui Construction. The Bangabandhu Bridge, located northwest of the capital, Dhaka, will serve road and rail traffic crossing the Jamuna River. The bridge will enhance the capacity and safety of rail transport in Bangladesh and will be become part of the Trans-Asian Railway network connecting Bangladesh with India.

IQIP Singapore is proud to be providing innovative equipment, expert advice and project support to the developers during the construction of this important project.
