At IQIP, the global market leader in piling we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to come and strengthen our Custom Engineering department. Our team is responsible for preparing technical proposals and developing one-off equipment for offshore installations. You, as Senior Mechanical Design Engineer are not just responsible for independently drafting innovative designs and proposals but will also act as a linking pin throughout the project: you make sure that our cooperative efforts with other departments and external parties deliver material that seamlessly fit customer expectations, on time. After contract is awarded the concept will be either further developed by another engineer or you can continue with your concept to develop it with a team of engineers into a detailed engineering package, up to commissioning of the tool on board of the vessel. To be successful in this role you’ll have to be familiar with the basic principles of hydraulics and controls.
You’ll be responsible for the following tasks:
- Translating customer requirements into functional specifications
- Developing concepts
- Refining concepts into basic designs
- Preparing specification documents
- Planning of global engineering activities
- Supervising technical specialists within the organization and evaluating the results
Your Profile:
- A completed diploma in mechanical engineering or a tightly related field
- At least a couple of years of successful project delivery as a mechanical designer in a capital goods industry
- Intimate knowledge of Solid Edge, Solid Works or Inventor (3D design) and ability to constructively converse with FEA Engineers (able to read FEMAP)
- You are a commercially driven designer: you strive to deliver above client expectations, on time
- You do not shy away of discussions and are able to motivate other people when necessary
- Experience in detail engineering is preferred
