IQIP recently supported Hilong Offshore Engineering, a global contractor based in Hong Kong and Shanghai, in the installation of the wellhead platforms WHP4 & WHP5 in the Congo Nené Marine field. These platforms are part of the broader infrastructure expansion for ENI’s Congo LNG project.
As part of this collaboration, IQIP provided project management, on-site service, and a full equipment spread to meet the demanding offshore conditions. The scope included:
- Hydrohammer® S-90, S-350, and S-600 for foundation installation, covering both vertical and raked piling.
- Internal Lifting Tools sized 24″ x 42″ and 42″ x 60″, essential for safe and efficient handling during pile positioning – especially under the challenging wind and current conditions where the Congo River meets the sea.
- The entire spread was prepared, tested, and shipped within one month, meeting tight project deadlines thanks to IQIP’s global network and extensive equipment fleet.
- IQIP’s service team remained on-site throughout the project, ensuring full compliance with safety and certification standards.
This project marks the first collaboration between IQIP and Hilong. We are proud of the trust placed in our team and equipment, and impressed by Hilong’s expertise, local knowledge, and dedication. In these challenging offshore conditions, IQIP proved to be a reliable partner, both in equipment and in spirit.
The importance of LNG for the future: it offers a cleaner alternative to coal and oil, with lower emissions and cleaner combustion, supporting the global transition toward renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.
About Congo LNG
Led by Italian energy company ENI, the Congo LNG project is the Republic of the Congo’s first natural gas liquefaction and export initiative. It taps into offshore gas reserves in the Marine XII permit, including the Nené Marine field. The project uses floating LNG vessels to process and export gas, aiming to boost domestic power generation and supply liquefied natural gas to international markets, primarily in Europe.
