At the beginning of November, the final monopile was successfully installed at Nordseecluster A, marking the completion of foundation installation for Phase 1 of this major offshore wind project. In total, 44 monopiles for wind turbines and one for the offshore substation were driven into the seabed using IQIP’s powerful hammer spread.
This spread featured the Hydrohammer® IQ6, from IQIP’s IQ-series—the world’s most powerful hammer range—and an 8-meter sleeve equipped with PULSE®. PULSE, our advanced hammer add-on, significantly reduces underwater noise during installation, supporting more sustainable offshore construction. The installation was carried out by Van Oord’s brand-new offshore installation vessel Boreas.
The Nordseecluster is a joint venture between RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%). RWE leads construction and will operate the wind farms throughout their lifecycle. Located in the eastern German North Sea, the Nordseecluster will eventually supply renewable energy to the equivalent of 1.6 million German households.
Congratulations to RWE and Van Oord on completing the foundation installation campaign for Nordseecluster A. We’re proud to see our technology playing a key role in accelerating the energy transition at this scale.
