IQIP is proud to support Petrodec in their mission to safely decommission complex offshore platforms in the UK North Sea using the OBANA heavy lift jack-up vessel.
Petrodec recently purchased four Decommissioning Internal Lifting Tools (Decom ILTs) from IQIP. These 36–63” tools feature multiple individual fail-safe wedges, ensuring a secure grip during jacket removal operations.
Unlike standard ILTs, the Decom ILTs feature individually actuated wedges—each operated by its own hydraulic cylinder. This design allows for a more adaptive grip on uneven surfaces and enables higher pull forces during jacket extraction. Additionally, the wedge teeth are specifically designed to better grip irregular, corroded surfaces. The extended length of the Decom ILTs further enhances overall stability and performance during decommissioning operations.
In addition to delivering the equipment, IQIP provided engineering support to help ensure a safe and efficient operation.
This collaboration reflects the confidence placed in IQIP’s equipment, engineering expertise, and long-standing experience in offshore lifting solutions.
ILTs for every offshore need
Over the past 40+ years, IQIP has developed a wide range of certified Internal Lifting Tools—each tailored to specific offshore challenges, whether for jacket installation, ultra-deepwater lifting, or decommissioning. All ILTs are designed and certified according to Lloyd’s Code for Lifting Appliances in a Marine Environment and are available for rent or purchase.
