Transport of Jacket Pile Grippers underway – supporting Baltyk 2 & 3 substation construction

News published on July 3, 2025

A new step forward for the Baltyk 2 & 3 offshore wind project: sixteen jacket pile grippers have been transported to Smulders’ production facility in Newcastle, UK.

Smulders is designing and constructing two offshore substations for the project—each consisting of a topside and jacket. Our jacket pile grippers will be integrated directly into the jackets during fabrication.

Jacket pile grippers play a vital role in offshore construction. By maintaining a jacket foundation into the correct position and creating a grouted connection to keep it secure, they are essential to the safe and stable installation of offshore platforms and wind turbines.

Baltyk 2 & 3, located in the Baltic Sea, are being developed by joint venture partners Equinor and Polenergia.
