At IQIP, we’re proud to play a fundamental role in advancing offshore wind projects around the world. A great example is the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms, under development by Equinor and Polenergia in the Polish Baltic Sea, where a major milestone has recently been achieved with the successful completion of the foundation installation campaign across both projects.
A total of 100 monopile foundations have been installed for the two wind farms using an IQIP Hydrohammer® IQ6. As part of IQIP’s range of the world’s most powerful impact hammers, the IQ6 delivered the performance and reliability required for this large-scale offshore installation campaign.
In addition, the offshore substation (OSS) jacket foundations for both Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3, including their skirt piles, have been successfully installed using an IQIP Hydrohammer® IQ2 hammer spread.
Beyond the deployment of the IQ-series Hydrohammer® spreads, IQIP also supplied the Jacket Pile Grippers integrated into both OSS jackets, further supporting the successful installation of these critical foundation structures.
The foundation installation campaign was executed by Heerema Marine Contractors using its heavy-lift vessel Thialf, one of the world’s largest semi-submersible crane vessels.
Once operational, Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 will comprise 100 offshore wind turbines and together form one of the largest offshore wind developments in the Baltic Sea, making a significant contribution to Poland’s renewable energy ambitions and energy security.
