Along the industrial quays of the Port of Rotterdam, the art of heavy-lift hoisting once again took centre stage.
The base construction was lifted first and placed onto the sea-fastening frame, followed by the water tank, completing the system’s defining configuration. During offshore operation, the water tank is filled with seawater, generating the required piling force for EQ-Piling by exerting its force onto the buffer cylinders integrated into the base construction. These buffers dampen the impact, enabling a controlled transfer of energy to the monopile while significantly reducing noise levels.
This heavy-lift operation marked the completion of the assembly, resulting in a fully functional EQ-Piling system.
With the system ready, the complete EQ-Piling spread — together with a Hydrohammer® impact hammer, supporting equipment, and the demonstration monopile — was prepared for the next step: being lifted onto DEME’s offshore installation vessel Orion.
