IQIP Hydrohammer to install 12 monopiles for wind farm on Maasvlakte 2

News published on 3 February 2022

Ballast Nedam and IQIP have reached an agreement on the delivery of an S-1400 Hydrohammer for the installation of 12 monopiles for the wind farm at Maasvlakte 2 in the Netherlands. Eneco is developing this wind farm of 22 turbines with a capacity of more than 100 megawatts, commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat (Netherlands Public Works). This project will contribute to making the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management energy neutral and will be a highly innovative onshore wind farm, generating more than 400 GWh of green energy per year from 2023 onwards.

Maasvlakte 2 is an ideal location for onshore wind. There is almost always strong wind and there are no houses nearby. On the beach, monopiles will be installed using our Hydrohammer for the 12 wind turbines. The other 10 wind turbines will be built on the hard seawall, on top of the dike, with pile foundations.

The start of the project is planned for February 2022. The starting date for the installation of the monopiles is planned for May 2022.
