On February 6, we successfully completed and delivered two locally build Transition Piece Lifting Tools (TPLT) to our customer PTSC in Vietnam.
These TPLTs, equipped with four arms, are designed to lift and install transition pieces onto offshore wind jackets. They lock quickly and safely into the top of transition pieces with a flange diameter up to 8 meters. Not only does the TPLT handle the initial lift of the transition pieces, it is also able to perform a second lift of the combined transition piece and jacket up to 800 tons.
One important feature is the ability to compensate for the centre of gravity, ensuring equilibrium during the lifting process. Additionally, the TPLT is powered by an integrated battery pack and can be operated remotely with assistance of the integrated camera system at distances of up to 100 meters, further enhancing its operational capabilities.
This project truly exemplifies the power of collaboration, with IQIP Singapore in the lead and great contributions from IQIP Group, IQIP Sliedrecht, and IQIP Malaysia including project management, work planning, quality management, and logistics. Furthermore, the operating system and electrical components were supplied from the Netherlands, while the production of the steel compartments and assembly were carried out locally in Vietnam.
On February 3, the first TPLT successfully performed a trial lift and was put into operation at PTSC’s mechanical & construction yard in Vung Tau, Vietnam. Next year, the jacket foundations will be installed at the Greater Changhua offshore windfarms in Taiwan.
